Milan Šetena, violin, was born in Prague, where he began
violin lessons at a young age with Dr. Bedrich Capek. He
studied at the Prague Conservatory in the class of Professor
František Pospíšil. During his studies at the conservatory, he
won several violin competitions and was the concertmaster
 
  Milan of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under
Claudio Abbado. He then moved to Vienna,
where he continued his studies with
Professor Alfred Staar. He has been a
member of the Vienna Philharmonic
Orchestra and Vienna State Opera since
1990. Additionally, he is a member of the
Vienna String Soloists, the Vienna
Geigenquartett, and the Schulhoff Quartet,
 
  with whom he performs regularly throughout the world, including appearances at such festivals as the Salzburg Festival, the Schubertiade, and the Stars of the White Nights in St. Petersburg.
